Lagos State University (LASU) has issued an official response to a viral video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites”, circulated by Datreez Entertainment TV on Friday, December 5, 2025. The clip shows individuals dressed in a manner that created panic as they moved across the campus carrying objects that appeared to be tactical gear. The unsettling footage triggered fear among students and raised widespread concern within the university community.
In its statement, the University clarified that it did not grant any clearance for the recording or release of the video. Datreez Entertainment TV entered the campus without permission, making the entire activity unauthorised. LASU noted that such content is capable of causing unnecessary alarm and disturbing the peace enjoyed on campus.
The management strongly condemned any video, prank, or media activity that suggests banditry, terrorism, or any act capable of frightening students or staff. It emphasised that the timing of such a prank is especially insensitive, given current national security concerns. LASU urged content creators to respect institutional rules and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of the university community.
LASU reassured students of its dedication to maintaining a secure and peaceful learning environment. The management urged students and staff to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious behaviour or unfamiliar visitors to the university’s Security Unit. Simple acts of alertness, the statement noted, go a long way in safeguarding the campus.
