Ebonyi State University has approved mop-up exams for students who have overstayed their allowed time and still want to graduate. This applies only to students who previously attempted and failed the courses. Read on for conditions, deadlines, and payment details.

Ebonyi State University (EBSU) Mop-up Exam for Over-Stayed Students

Ebonyi State University has given the green light for a university-wide mop-up examination. This is meant for students who have spent more than the allowed time on their academic programme but still want a chance to graduate.

Who Can Take the Mop-Up Exam?

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a former full-time or WASP student of the university
  • Have exceeded the approved duration for your course (more than 6 or 8 years)
  • Have registered for and sat exams in the courses you want to retake
  • Not request mop-up exams in any course you never attempted before

This isn’t a free pass. If you never attempted a course, you can’t suddenly take it now. The mop-up is only for students who tried and failed.

How Many Courses Can Be Taken?

  • You can take up to 30 credit units by paying the full sessional school fees
  • For additional courses, you’ll pay ₦10,000 per course
  • A cap of 10 extra courses applies, or as adjusted by university management

Role of Deans and HODs

  • Heads of Department must contact eligible students immediately
  • Deans will oversee the coordination of the exams in each faculty
  • A list of all affected students should be compiled and sent to management through the Results Database office

Dates to Keep in Mind

The mop-up exams will run from Monday, 14 July to Saturday, 19 July 2025.

Who Cannot Write?

Students who are on suspension or have been expelled are not eligible for this exam. If your name falls into either of those categories, this opportunity doesn’t apply.
