How to Check Your JAMB Admission Status and What to Do Next

You know that feeling when the days seem to drag because you’re waiting for news? That’s what it’s like for many candidates after JAMB. Some are refreshing pages like it’s a sport, hoping to see that one sweet word — admitted. Good news is, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has made it simple to check your status. No payment, no complicated hoops, just a few clicks.

Sometimes schools don’t release their admission lists right away. In those moments, the JAMB Admission Status Checking Portal can be your saving grace. You can check your progress without depending on anyone else’s timetable.

Step-by-Step Guide to Check Your JAMB Admission Status

No need for long stories. Just follow these steps and you’ll get there.

  • Step 1: Head over to the JAMB E-facility portal.
  • Step 2: Sign in using your JAMB username and password.
  • Step 3: Scroll down until you see Check Admission Status and click it.
  • Step 4: Select your exam year, then type in your registration number.
  • Step 5: Click Check Admission Status again, then click Access my CAPS to see the full details, including related services.

A few minutes is all it takes. And yes, you can do it from your phone.

If You See “Admitted”

Congrats! But don’t just leave it there. Lock it in.

If It Says “Not Yet Admitted”

Breathe. There’s still work you can do.

  • Check your O’level upload
    • Log into CAPS, go to My O’level.
    • If it says Awaiting Result, head to a JAMB CBT centre to upload it.
    • No upload means no admission — no matter your score.
  • See if they want to transfer you
    • Look under Transfer Approval.
    • Accept if you’re fine with the new course, reject if not.
    • Just know, rejecting means you’ll stay on your original course list… but might still be waiting later.
  • If you used awaiting result when registering
    • Upload your results the moment they’re ready.
    • Direct-entry candidates, even JUPEB folks, should upload both O’level and A’level. Screening officers can’t read your mind.

Waiting can feel like forever, but checking your status often keeps you ahead. A little action now can save you a big headache later. Admission season in Nigeria? E no be beans — so keep your eyes open and your details ready.
