LASU Disclaimer on Fake Admission Emails and Payment Links

LASU Disclaimer on Fake Admission Emails and Payment Links

By  Updated on

Lagos State University has warned the public about fake admission emails asking candidates to pay fees through unauthorised links. The school stressed that all admissions are processed through JAMB CAPS and payments only on the LASU site. Please read on for full details.

Lagos State University (LASU) Admission Scam Alert

Lagos State University, Ojo, has raised the alarm over fraudulent emails that claim to offer admission into the school. These messages, already making the rounds, target unsuspecting candidates and demand payment of acceptance fees through links that have nothing to do with the University. It is a ploy, plain and simple.

The school’s management has stepped in quickly to clear the air and protect prospective students, parents, and guardians from falling into the trap.

Fraudulent Emails in Circulation

According to the University, the fake messages are being pushed out from addresses that do not belong to LASU or the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. Genuine LASU emails always carry the ending @lasu.edu.ng, not free domains like Gmail. That alone is enough to spot a red flag.

Candidates Not Offered Admission

The emails go further by pretending that certain applicants have been offered admission. LASU has confirmed that these names were never shortlisted. The only place a true admission can appear is on the JAMB CAPS platform or LASU’s official admission portal. Anything outside those two channels is false.

Payment Platforms Clarified

LASU has restated that it never sends payment links by email. All charges, whether for acceptance or school fees, are handled only through the University’s official e-payment platform. That is the one and only recognised portal.

Protecting the University’s Image

The school described these fake emails as the work of criminal elements trying to mislead families and smear the University’s name. Management has cut ties completely with such activities and made it clear that transparency and openness remain its standard.

Advice to the Public

The University is warning candidates, parents, and the general public to:

  • Ignore any email offering admission outside JAMB CAPS or LASU’s official portal.
  • Avoid clicking links shared through unauthorised channels.
  • Report any suspicious email or text message to LASU authorities without delay.

Closing Word

LASU has reassured the public that its admission process is conducted in the open, through the right platforms, and under proper supervision. Fake messages may keep flying about, but candidates should stay alert. A wise person once said, “if it looks too easy, it is probably a trick.”
