Apply for NDDC 2025/2026 Postgraduate Scholarships

The NDDC has reopened its local postgraduate scholarship for 2025. It’s open to Niger Delta indigenes with strong academic records. Read on to find out if you qualify and how to apply.

2025 NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship Now Open for Niger Delta Indigenes

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is again offering postgraduate scholarships to help young people in the region build strong careers. The aim is simple: give people the training they need to compete for jobs and take part in national development efforts, especially in areas tied to local content. If you’re from the Niger Delta and meet the academic requirements, you can apply.

This year’s scholarship is for study at Nigerian universities only. It covers a wide range of professional fields that actually matter in today’s job market.

Who Can Apply

You must:

  • Be from the Niger Delta.
  • Be 40 years old or younger.
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree (First Class, Second Class Upper or Lower).
  • Or have a Higher National Diploma (HND) with Upper Credit and a Postgraduate Diploma.

If you tick these boxes, you can go ahead and apply.

How the Selection Works

The process is strict, so take each step seriously.

1. Online Application

You must apply through the official NDDC scholarship portal.

2. Initial Shortlisting

This will be based on:

  • Your WASSCE or NECO results
  • Your degree or diploma grade
  • A valid Local Government ID

3. Computer-Based Test (CBT)

If shortlisted, you’ll be invited to take a CBT at centres in Akwa Ibom, Delta, or Rivers. You must pick your preferred state while registering.

To move on, you must score at least 70%.

4. Interview

Those who pass the test will face an oral interview.

5. Final Check

Final verification will be done through your local government and community committee.

How to Apply

Head to the application portal. You’ll need to upload:

  • A recent passport photo
  • Your Local Government ID
  • Admission letter from a recognised Nigerian university
  • Degree or HND certificates
  • NYSC discharge or exemption letter

Once you submit your form, a registration number will pop up. Print it. You’ll need it later.

Deadline: July 20, 2025

What Else You Should Know

  • Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
  • No appeals. The Commission’s decisions are final.
  • Preference goes to applicants from oil-producing host communities, as long as they meet the score cut-off.
  • You can’t change your course, defer your admission or switch schools later.
  • All results and updates will be shared on the NDDC website.
