UNILAG Hostel Fees And Student Dues Update

University of Lagos (UNILAG) management has confirmed that there will be no increase in hostel accommodation fees. This update will bring relief to many students who are planning for the new academic session and trying to work with fixed budgets for housing, fees and daily expenses on campus.

The update also explains how faculty and departmental dues will now be handled through a central portal, as well as what students need to do to take part in the hostel balloting process.

UNILAG hostel accommodation and balloting

The University of Lagos management has clearly stated that hostel accommodation fees remain unchanged. Students can plan their housing costs with the same figures they already know from previous notices.

All students who wish to take part in the hostel accommodation balloting exercise are urged to complete their course registration on time. Only students who have fully registered their courses will be eligible to join the hostel ballot when it begins.

Students who delay course registration risk missing out on hostel space, so early action is strongly encouraged.

Central portal for faculty and departmental dues

All Faculty and Departmental dues have now been brought together into a single central payment portal. The total amount for these dues has been reviewed downwards and the new rates are already in use.

This new process means:

• Students do not need to make separate payments at their faculties.
• Students do not need to make extra payments at departmental offices during the semester.

Instead, the required dues are paid once through the central platform, which makes tracking and proof of payment much easier.

Student association dues for freshers

Student Association Dues, which cover Faculty and Departmental Associations, will still be collected at the faculty level for fresh students.

These dues will be taken during screening exercises for new students. Freshers should go along with any payment details or instructions given by their faculty so that they complete both screening and association dues at the same time.

Course registration and hostel eligibility

Course registration is a key step for every student. To be part of the hostel balloting exercise:

• Each student needs to complete course registration promptly.
• Only fully registered students will be considered for hostel allocation when the ballot starts.
