University of Port Harcourt has approved a special two-year amnesty for some former students who could not complete their degree programmes within the allowed period.
The approval came from the Senate of the university. It applies to students admitted from the 2010/2011 academic session to the 2018/2019 academic session.
Who The UNIPORT Amnesty Covers
The amnesty covers students who gained admission between 2010/2011 and 2018/2019 but left their studies unfinished. Some affected students overstayed their allowed study period; others had issues that stopped them from completing their programmes.
This approval gives them a chance to return.
UNIPORT expects affected students to regularise their academic status and complete their studies under the two-year amnesty window. The offer applies only to students who fall within the stated admission sessions.
How Eligible Students Should Apply
Eligible students must send a formal application to the Vice Chancellor.
They should route the application through their Heads of Department, since the university will review each case before any further action. The process starts from the department, so affected students should not skip that step.
The application should state the student’s case clearly. It should also show that the student seeks to return under the approved amnesty.
What The Amnesty Means For Affected Students
The approval gives affected students another opening to finish what they started at UNIPORT. For those who stopped because of overstaying or related academic issues, the amnesty creates a route back into their programmes.
It is a limited window.
Students who meet the stated conditions should treat the date with care, since the university has fixed a clear closing date for applications.
Application Closing Date
The closing date for submission of applications is 31 May 2026.
Affected students should submit their formal applications before this date. Late submission may affect consideration.
