ASUU Indigent Scholarship Award 2024/2025

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has introduced a scholarship scheme for indigent students in public universities across Nigeria.

This programme aims to provide financial aid to those who meet the set requirements.

Scholarship Details

  • Amount per beneficiary: ₦200,000
  • Number of beneficiaries: Two students per branch

Guidelines for the Award

  • The award is for established indigent students.
  • Each branch will form a committee to oversee the selection.
  • A public call for applications will be issued by each branch.
  • The committee will review applications and interact with candidates.
  • Two candidates will be selected by the committee per branch.
  • Selected names will be confirmed by the Congress and sent to the National Secretariat.
  • The award will be presented at the zonal level, except for the zone hosting the next NEC, where it will be given at the national level.

Criteria for Eligibility

Applicants must:

  1. Be indigent.
  2. Be registered students in universities with ASUU branches.
  3. Have a CGPA of 3.0 or higher.

Mode of Application

Applicants should write a letter of application (not more than two pages) that includes:

  • Full name.
  • Course and year of study.
  • State of origin.

The letter must include the following documents:

  1. A photocopy of a valid student ID card.
  2. A letter from the Head of Department showing the applicant’s CGPA for the last academic session.
  3. A copy of the registration form for the current semester.
  4. Two recent passport photographs.

Deadline for Submission

All branches must complete the selection process and submit names of awardees by 24th January 2025.

Any branch that fails to meet this deadline will not participate in the 2024/2025 award cycle.

This scholarship offers a chance for eligible students to ease their financial burden and focus on their studies.
