Rechecking of Withheld WAEC Results Begins Monday

WAEC has opened re-checking for withheld WASSCE results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that candidates with withheld results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) can begin the re-checking process on Monday, October 14, 2024.

This announcement comes after the conclusion of the 78th Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) meeting, held on October 9, 2024.

Re-Checking Process for Withheld WASSCE Results

WAEC shared this update via its official X handle, #waecnigeria. Candidates who wish to re-check their withheld results can start the process as instructed. The NEC meeting was focused on addressing cases of malpractice and irregularities during the 2024 WASSCE for school candidates.

It also reviewed examination standards, results processing, and future strategies aimed at maintaining the credibility of examinations in Nigeria.

The post stated:
“ICYMI: The 78th Meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) ended on October 9, 2024. The communiqué from the meeting will be made available soon. Candidates can re-check their results from Monday, October 14, 2024.”

Further Details to be Announced

Students, parents, and schools are encouraged to stay alert for the communiqué, which will provide detailed information about the outcomes of the NEC meeting. This document will highlight decisions regarding the handling of malpractice cases and future changes to examination policies.

Earlier in August, WAEC withheld 215,267 results from the 2024 WASSCE due to various irregularities. The initial release of results for other candidates took place on August 12, 2024.

The recent NEC meeting, which began earlier in the week, focused on addressing these irregularities and ensuring that the integrity of the examination process is upheld.
