The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) supports education in Northern Nigeria by awarding scholarships to 200 eligible students in public universities and polytechnics each year.

Scholarship Details

  • The scholarship covers one academic session.
  • Renewal depends on a minimum CGPA of Second Class Lower Division for university students and Upper Credit for polytechnic students.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be admitted into 100 level (UTME) or 200 level (Direct Entry) for a Degree or HND 1 in the 2023/2024 session.
  • Be enrolled in science or technology courses in a public university or polytechnic.
  • Meet the institution’s full-time student requirements.
  • Have five O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.
  • Be an indigene of any Northern Nigerian state or the Federal Capital Territory (proof of state of origin required).
  • Be 25 years old or younger at the time of university or polytechnic admission.

Meeting the criteria does not guarantee selection. Scholarships are awarded based on ranking in the selection process. Any false information will lead to disqualification.

Screening Process

Shortlisted candidates must attend a screening exercise with the original copies of the following:

  • Three passport photographs (2×2 inches).
  • Certificate of State of Origin.
  • Birth Certificate from the National Population Commission (NPC).
  • JAMB result slip.
  • JAMB and Institution Admission Letter.
  • Evidence of school fees payment and faculty/departmental registration.
  • Valid student ID card.
  • WAEC or NECO result/certificate.
  • Latest semester results.
  • Personal contact details, including email.
  • Reference letter from a community leader.
  • Completed Parent/Guardian Attestation Letter.
  • Active phone number.
  • Next of kin contact details, including email.

General Instructions

  • Applications must be submitted online.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for screening.
  • Successful applicants’ names will be published in a national newspaper and on the foundation’s website.
  • Students with scholarships from other schemes are not eligible.

This scholarship supports students in Northern Nigeria. Apply before the deadline to be considered.
