UNIMED B.Sc. Conversion Admission Form 2025
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) invites applications for B.Sc. Conversion Programmes at the Akure Campus. This guide covers available courses, admission requirements, and application steps. Read on for full details.
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) is accepting applications for its B.Sc. Conversion Programmes under the Institute of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (IDLCE) at the Akure Campus.

General Admission Requirements
Candidates must have obtained five (5) credit passes in the following OβLevel subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
The credits must be obtained in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or an equivalent examination, in not more than two (2) sittings.
Additional Requirements:
- Evidence of NYSC discharge/exemption certificate.
- Academic/official transcripts must be processed and provided before admission. An electronic copy of the official transcript can be forwarded to idlcetranscripts@unimed.edu.ng.
Available Courses and Faculty Requirements
FACULTY OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Health Information Management (HIM)
Admission Requirements:
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health Information Management from a recognised and accredited institution.
Duration: Two (2) years, three (3) semesters per year.
FACULTY OF DENTAL SCIENCES
B. Dent T Conversion Programme in Dental Therapy
Admission Requirements:
- Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit.
- Candidates must obtain a satisfactory pass in any further examination conducted by the University.
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Dental Technology
Admission Requirements:
- HND in Dental Technology with a minimum of Lower Credit.
- Candidates must obtain a satisfactory pass in any further examination conducted by the University.
Duration: Six (6) semesters.
FACULTY OF MEDICAL REHABILITATION
Transitional-Doctor of Physiotherapy (tDPT)
Admission Requirements for 18-Month Duration (3 Semesters):
- First degree in Physiotherapy (BSc PT, BMR PT, or BPT) from a 4- or 5-year training programme in or outside Nigeria.
- Minimum of Second-Class Lower Division.
- Candidates with a Third-Class degree in Physiotherapy but with a Postgraduate National Diploma in a relevant field may also be considered.
Admission Requirements for 12-Month Duration (2 Semesters):
- Must meet the requirements for the 18-month programme.
- Additional postgraduate qualification (minimum of MSc in Physiotherapy or relevant fields such as MPH, MSc in Exercise Science, Physiology, Anatomy, or Biochemistry).
B.PO Conversion Programme in Prosthetics and Orthotics
Admission Requirements:
- HND in Prosthetics and Orthotics Technology from a recognised institution with a minimum of Lower Credit.
Duration: Six (6) semesters.
Note: A current MRTB practising licence is required for both tDPT and P&O.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Computer Science
Admission Requirements:
- HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Physics Electronics, or Core Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics) with a minimum of Lower Credit.
- Third-Class degree holders from any NUC-recognised university can apply.
- B.Ed. Computer Science holders with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division can apply.
Duration: Two (2) years, three (3) semesters per year.
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Microbiology
Admission Requirements:
- HND Certificate with a minimum of Lower Credit or a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of a Pass in a related discipline from a recognised university or polytechnic.
Duration: Two (2) years, three (3) semesters per year.
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Physics
Areas of Specialisation:
- Physics
- Physics with Electronics
- Medical Physics
Admission Requirements:
Applicants must possess any of the following:
- HND in Physics with Electronics or Electrical/Electronics with a minimum of Lower Credit.
- B.Sc. with a Third-Class degree from a recognised university.
- B.Tech. or B.Eng. in Electrical/Electronics with a Third-Class degree.
- B.Ed. in Integrated Science with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division.
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Science Laboratory Technology (SLT)
Available Options:
- Biochemistry Techniques
- Biology and Computational Biology Techniques
- Chemistry Techniques
- Industrial Mathematics and Statistics Techniques
- Microbiology Techniques
- Physics with Electronics Techniques
Admission Requirements:
- A minimum of a Pass or Third-Class Honours or HND (minimum of Lower Credit grade) from a recognised institution.
Duration: Two (2) years, three (3) semesters per year.
SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Community Health
Admission Requirements:
- Holders of a Community Health Officers (CHO) certificate with a current practising licence.
Duration: Two (2) years, three (3) semesters per year.
B.Sc. Conversion Programme in Environmental Health Science
Admission Requirements:
- Holders of HND in Environmental Health Science with a current practising licence.
Duration: Two (2) years, three (3) semesters per year.
Application Process
To apply, visit the UNIMED Admission Portal and follow these steps:
- Click on Admission.
- Select the programme of choice.
- Click PAYMENT and complete payment using a VISA or MASTER Card (VERVE is not allowed).
- Print the Payment Receipt.
- Click APPLICATION FORM, enter the Payment Transaction ID, and complete the form.
Application Deadline
- Friday, 28th February 2025.
Application Fee
- N15,000.
