Applications are invited from suitably qualified Candidates for admission into the under- listed Part-Time Diploma Programmes in Lagos State University.

LASU Part-Time Diploma Available Programmes & Requirements
I. FACULTY OF EDUCATION
DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION
(a) DIPLOMA IN PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION (2 YEARS)
Candidates who possess any of the following qualifications are eligible to apply for admission into the 2-year Diploma in Physical and Health Education Programme:
i. Senior Secondary School Certificate with at least three (3) Credit Passes
ii. Grade II Teachers Certificate with at least three (3) Merit Passes
iii. General Certificate of Education (GCE) with at least three (3) Credit Passes at O’ Level.
iv. Mature Candidates not less than 35 years of age who are also International/National athlete with Medals/Certificates can benefit from the Programme with at least two (2) Credits
(b) DIPLOMA IN NURSERY AND PRIMARY EDUCATION (2 YEARS)
i. Teachers with Grade II or other qualifications recognized in Nursery and Primary Education who have at least three (3) years experience in teaching;
ii. Candidates with three (3) Credit passes at Ordinary Level and at least a pass in English Language;
iii. Mature Candidates of not less than 35 years of age, but, who do not have the required three (3) Credit passes and are presently in the Primary Schools may be considered.
iv. Candidates with Passes in N.C.E
DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
(a) DIPLOMA IN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (2 YEARS)
i. Candidates with four (4) Credits at not more than two (2) sittings to include English Language at the Senior Secondary School Certificate, West African School Certificate, General Certificate of Education or National Examination Council (NECO) Certificate.
ii. Candidates with merits in four (4) subjects including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings in Grade II Teacher’s Certificate.
iii. There shall be a qualifying examination and interview for all applicants to be conducted by the University through the joint planning and coordination by the University Library and the Faculty of Education.
II. FACULTY OF ARTS
(a) CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN FILM STUDIES (1 YEAR)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidate should possess at least three (3) Credit passes in relevant subjects in Arts, Natural Science and Social Sciences at not more than two (2) sittings at GCE/SSCE/WASC/NECO. Credit pass in English Language will be an added advantage.
WAIVER
1. Holders of TC II (Teachers Grade II) Certificates with at least three (3) passes in relevant subjects are eligible to apply.
2. Mature Candidates not less than 30 years old with other Certificates and at least five (5) years relevant experience in their chosen course of study are also eligible to apply.
(b)DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN FILM STUDIES (2 YEARS)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidate should possess at least four (4) credit passes in relevant subjects in Arts, Natural Science and Social Sciences at not more than two (2) sittings at GCE/SSCE/WASC/NECO. Credit pass in English Language will be an added advantage.
WAIVER
1. Holders of TC II (Teachers Grade II) Certificates with at least three (3) passes in relevant subjects are eligible to apply.
2. Mature Candidates not less than 30 years old with other Certificates and at least five (5) years cognate experience in their chosen course of study are also eligible to apply.
(c) DIPLOMA IN MUSIC (2 YEARS)
The Lagos State University minimum entry requirement into the Diploma in Music Programme is as follows:
i. Credit passes in at least three (3) subjects
ii. A minimum of merit pass at Grade 3 Level in ABRSM or MUSON Examination is acceptable for the programme
iii. Applicants, by whichever mode they seek admission, must satisfy the Department of their basic musical aptitude and competence at a specially conducted Departmental audition. This consists of written (theoretical), practical (playing of various instruments, singing etc) as well as aural examinations. Candidates are recommended for admission only after they have passed the audition.
(d) DIPLOMA IN THEATRE ARTS (2 YEARS)
Candidates intending to be admitted for the programme must obtain:
i. Credit passes in the SSCE or GCE O’Level Examination or its equivalent in four (4) subjects including English Language
OR
ii. Credit passes in Teachers Grade II Examination including English Language and Social Studies. Credit in Literature in English will be an added advantage
iii. Waivers shall be given to mature students (not less than 35years) with other Certificates but who have three (3) years experience in Theatre and Media Arts Practice and with a recommendation from renowned Professionals
iv. A good grade in the entry examination
(e) DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN STUDIES (2 YEARS)
Candidates must have obtained:
i. Credit passes in GCE/WASC O’Level Examination in three (3) subjects, including Christian Religious Studies
OR
ii. Three (3) Merit passes in the Teacher Grade II Examination including Christian Religious Studies OR
iii. Certificates and Diplomas of Theological Institutions
iv. Waivers shall be given to mature Candidates (not less than 35 years old) with less or other Certificates but who have relevant experience and
v. A good grade in the entrance examination
(f) DIPLOMA IN ARABIC AND ISLAMIC STUDIES (2 YEARS)
i. Candidates must have Merit/Credit Level pass at the THANAWIYYA (secondary) level of standard ilmiyyah school. OR
ii. Al-l’dadiyyah Certificate of standard ilmiyyah school with three (3) Credit passes in GCE/WASC O’ Level Examination in any three (3) subjects OR
iii. Three (3) Credit passes in GCE/WASC O’ Level Examination in three (3) subjects including Arabic and Islamic Studies
AND
iv. A good grade in the qualifying entry examination.
(g) DIPLOMA IN PHILOSOPHY
Candidates for admission into the Diploma in Philosophy should normally possess at least one (1) of the following:
Four (4) Credits at not more than two (2) Sittings to include English at SSCE/WASC/GCE/NECO Certificate.
Candidate with five (5) Credits passes in WASC, NECO or GCE or TC II with at least a pass in English Language.
Candidates with Merits in four (4) subjects including English Language at not more than two (2) Sittings in Grade II Teacher’s Certificate.
Mature Candidates who are 30 years old and above with three (3) Credits which must include English Language.
(h) DIPLOMA IN YORUBA COMMUNICATION ARTS
A minimum of three (3) Credits in SSCE/GCE
A minimum of three (3) Merits in Teacher Grade II Examination
The three (3) Credits in (a) or three (3) Merit in (b) above must include Yoruba. A Credit pass in English Language or a Pass in A/L Literature will be an added advantage.
Mature Candidates with lower qualifications and at least ten (10) years work experience in relevant professions may be considered for admission. Tests or oral interviews may be conducted for such Candidates to determine their suitability.
III. FACULTY OF LAW
(a) DIPLOMA IN LAW (2 YEARS)
i. Candidates must have at least four (4) Credit passes at SSCE/GCE/NECO or its equivalent including English Language and Literature-in-English
ii. Mature Candidates of not less than 35 years of age with at least a Pass in English Language or Mathematics with Ten (10) years working experience at managerial level may be considered
IV. FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
(a) DIPLOMA IN ECONOMICS STUDIES (2 YEARS)
i. Credit passes in, at least four (4) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other subject in the Senior School Certificate Examination, General Certification of Education Ordinary Level or its equivalent.
ii. A Professional Certificate in Technology, Business Administration, Banking, Accounting, Law, Marketing, Finance, Insurance and holders of related Professional Certificates.
iii. Mature Candidates of not less than 35 years of age with qualification below the minimum requirements of four (4) Credits which must include English Language and Mathematics or at least a pass in either of these but with not less than ten (10) years cognate working experience may be considered.
(b) DIPLOMA IN SOCIAL WORK AND ADMINISTRATION (2 YEARS)
An applicant for admission into the Diploma in Social Work and Administration shall normally be required to possess any of the following qualifications.
i. Senior Secondary School Certificate with at least four (4) Credits including English Language.
ii. GCE O’ Level with at least four (4) credits including English Language.
iii. SSCE or GCE O’ Level with at least three (3) Credits and a Minimum of 30 years of age.
iv. Officers from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Religious Organization, Media, Local Government Service, Security Agencies among others.
v. Any other interested Candidates with OND/NCE/B.SC Certificates or equivalent qualifications.
(C) DIPLOMA IN CRIME MANAGEMENT STUDIES (2 YEARS)
Entry Requirements
An applicant for admission into the Diploma in Crime Management Studies shall normally be required to possess any of the following qualification.
i. Senior Secondary School Certificate with at least four (4) Credits including English Language.
ii. GCE O’ Level with at least four (4) Credits including English Language.
iii. SSSC or GCE O’level with at least three (3) Credits and a minimum of 30 years of age,
iv. Officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent or equivalent.
v. Any other interested Candidates with OND/NCE/B.SC Certificates or equivalent qualifications.
V. FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
(a) DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (2 YEARS)
i Prospective Candidates for Diploma in Public Administration must possess the West Africa School Certificate/Senior Secondary School Certificate, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent with a minimum of four (4) Credits including English Language.
ii. Mature Candidates who do not possess the minimum entry requirements but who can prove that they have sufficient work experience in Public Administration may be admitted, so far as they have attained the age of 35 years.
(b) DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS AND PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT (2 YEARS)
i. Credit passes in at least four (4) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Government and any other subject in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WAEC/NECO, GCE O’ Level or its equivalent.
ii. Mature Candidates of not less than 35 years of age with at least a pass in either English Language or Mathematics plus credit passes in three (3) relevant subjects may be considered.
iii. Four (4) Credit passes which must include English Language and Mathematics or at least a pass in either Mathematics or English but with not less than ten (10) years cognate work experience may also be considered
iv. Four (4) Credit passes in Teachers Grade II/WAEC Technical/NABTEB Certificate for Candidates who are not less than 35 years of age. A minimum of ten (10) years cognate work experience is required.
(C) DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Candidate must possess four (4) O’Level Credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other subject from Physical and Social Science.
VI. CENTRE FOR PLANNING STUDIES
DIPLOMA IN PLANNING STUDIES (2 YEARS)
Admission Requirement:
a. O’ Level Credit pass in four (4) subjects which must include either English Language/Literature-in-English or Mathematics.
b. A pass in English Language or Mathematics with Credits in any other two (2) subjects.
c. OND/NCE/ICAN foundation/ATS/GRD II
d. Mature Candidates not below 35years with not more than one deficiency from (b) above
e. A’ Level passes in at least two (2) subjects. Every A’ Level Credit is an equivalent of O’ Level Credit.
f. Any other qualifications as may be determined by the University Senate from time to time.
VII. FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
(a) DIPLOMA IN CHEMICAL & POLYMER ENGINEERING (2 YEARS)
a. Four (4) O’ Level Credit passes including Credit pass in Chemistry and a pass in English Language with any other three (3) credits in sciences.
b. NBTE Certificate with credit in Chemistry and a pass in English Language.
c. C & G Final Certificate in relevant Field
d. Mature Candidates not less than 30years old with relevant work experience with at least two (2) Credit passes of which Chemistry is a must.
(b)DIPLOMA IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Credit passes in Physics, Mathematics, English Language and any two (2) of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Geography and Agricultural Science.
National Technical Certificate in a related subject with a Credit pass.
Candidates aged 30 years and above, who have been working in Mechanical related industry for at least five (5) years but do not meet the above requirements may be considered on individual-merit. Such candidates are required to have Credit passes in three (3) subjects which must include Physics, Mathematics and English Language.
