The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the registration and examination schedule for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the examination body, registration for prospective candidates will commence on January 31, 2025, and conclude on March 5, 2025. This announcement was made by JAMB's Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, during a meeting with media executives in Lagos.
Professor Oloyede also revealed that the 2025 UTME will take place from March 8, 2025, while a mock examination is slated for February 23, 2025, for candidates who opt to participate.
Mandatory Requirements for Registration
To ensure a smooth registration process, JAMB reiterated the importance of meeting all mandatory requirements, including the submission of a National Identification Number (NIN).
JAMB explained, “The NIN will be used to generate a profile code, which is a prerequisite for registration. Candidates must send their NIN via text message to either 55019 or 66019 to receive their profile code.”
Registration Fees
The board outlined the following registration fees for the 2025 UTME:
- Candidates opting for the UTME mock examination: ₦8,200
- Candidates sitting only for the UTME: ₦7,200
- Direct Entry (DE) candidates: ₦5,700
Purpose of the Mock Examination
Professor Oloyede noted that the mock examination is designed to help candidates familiarise themselves with the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format and improve their readiness for the main examination. Additionally, JAMB has introduced a separate trial-testing mock for candidates below the age of 16 who wish to experience the CBT process without participating in the UTME.
Increase in CBT Centres
To accommodate the growing number of candidates and enhance the examination process, JAMB has approved 870 computer-based test centres for the 2025 UTME, an increase from the 747 centres used in 2024. The board stated, “This expansion aims to minimise technical challenges and ensure a seamless experience for all participants.”
Commitment to Improved Processes
JAMB assured candidates of its dedication to providing a transparent, efficient, and user-friendly registration and examination process in 2025. According to Professor Oloyede, “The board believes that candidates participating in the 2025 UTME will experience an examination like never before.”
The board urged candidates to:
- Start their preparations early.
- Create their profiles promptly.
- Gather all required documents.
- Stay updated through JAMB’s official platforms.
JAMB also emphasised that registration must be completed within the designated window, as late submissions will not be entertained.
With these updates, JAMB reaffirms its commitment to maintaining fairness and ensuring the best possible experience for all candidates in the 2025 UTME.
