WAEC Timetable

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released the timetable for the 2026 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, for school candidates.

The timetable covers candidates in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia. It shows exam dates, paper names, duration and starting time for each listed subject, which means candidates need to read it with care and use the PDF meant for their own country.

Key Notes for WASSCE Candidates

WAEC gives exam notes that candidates must read before they enter the hall. One small detail can affect time, marks or access to the paper, so candidates should go through the timetable and the paper rules before exam day.

When Question Paper Time Differs

Where the duration printed on the question paper differs from the timetable, candidates should follow the time printed on the question paper.

Papers Given Out Before the Exam Date

For Visual Art 3:

  • Paper 3A: schools will receive instructions two weeks before the paper is due.
  • Paper 3B: candidates will receive the question paper two weeks before the paper is due.
  • Paper 3C: candidates will carry out their projects within six months of the examination year; the Council will tell schools the submission period.

Extra Time for Blind, Deaf and Dumb Candidates

Blind, deaf and dumb candidates should receive one and half times the time given to other candidates.

Simple WAEC Exam Tips

Candidates should begin revision early, not leave study until the final days. Past questions can help them see exam patterns, practise timing and notice how WAEC frames common subject areas.

Good food, sleep and short breaks also matter during revision. On each exam day, candidates should arrive early, settle down and check the paper details with care; panic steals time.

Forbidden Items in WAEC Exam Hall

The draft lists these items as banned:

  • Phones, even when switched off
  • Smartwatches
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Tablets
  • Programmable calculators
  • Any suspicious gadget

Any candidate caught with any of these items is out.
