CELPE-Bras Training Programme For Scholarship In Brazil
The Government of Brazil offers scholarships in various disciplines to hundreds of Nigerian students each academic session. To qualify for these scholarships, students must pass the CELPE-Bras (Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese Language for Foreigners) examination.
This programme is designed to prepare candidates for both undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships in Brazil.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have passed WAEC/SSCE with at least five (5) credits
- Be between the ages of 17 and 23 years for undergraduate scholarships
- Hold at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) for postgraduate scholarships
Programme Duration
The training runs for a period of six (6) months.
Diploma In Portuguese And Brazilian Studies
The Diploma qualifies candidates for admission into the degree programme in Portuguese/English at Lagos State University.
Admission Requirements
- A minimum of four (4) credits including English Language in GCE O-Level or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings
- Three (3) credits at one (1) sitting plus five (5) years work experience in a corporate body or government establishment
- Mature candidates above 35 years of age with three (3) credits at one (1) sitting
Programme Duration
The course runs on a part-time basis for four (4) semesters, equivalent to two (2) academic sessions.
Certificate In Portuguese And Brazilian Studies
This course is designed for those intending to travel to Lusophone countries for study, trade, news coverage, or tourism. The certificate also qualifies candidates for admission into the Diploma in Portuguese programme at LASU.
Admission Requirements
- WASC or GCE O-Level (or its equivalent) with credits in three (3) subjects, including English, at not more than two (2) sittings
- Alternatively, WASC or GCE O-Level (or its equivalent) with three (3) credits at one (1) sitting plus five (5) years work experience in a corporate body or government establishment
Programme Duration
This is a two-module, six-month part-time programme. Each module lasts for three (3) months.
Proficiency Certificate In Yoruba For Non-Native Speakers
This certificate course is designed to train and equip candidates with knowledge of Yoruba language, literature, culture, and communication techniques. It particularly targets Brazilians and other international learners, while also accommodating Nigerians.
Admission Requirements
- Foreigners with at least a secondary school certificate or its equivalent
- Nigerian candidates with a minimum of three (3) credits in WAEC, NECO, or equivalent
- Graduates of higher institutions in any discipline
- Mature candidates above 35 years of age, or those with at least ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, may also be considered
Note: A pass in Yoruba is not compulsory.
Programme Duration
The course runs on a full-time basis for eight (8) weeks.

- ₦10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira) for all programmes
- $50 (Fifty US Dollars) for the Proficiency Certificate in Yoruba (for foreign applicants)
