FUD Senate Approves School for Continuing and Distance Learning Education

The Senate of Federal University Dutse, FUD, has approved the School for Continuing and Distance Learning Education, SCDLE. The approval came under the chairmanship of Professor Ahmed Muhammed Gumel.

The new school will serve working professionals, non-traditional students and international learners.

Why FUD Approved SCDLE

Professor Ahmed Muhammed Gumel said higher education now leans more on flexible and technology-based learning. He stated that FUD cannot afford to fall behind.

The school will give qualified applicants another route into the university, especially those who may not gain admission through conventional or full-time programmes. It also aims to support digital literacy, professional growth and the university’s internally generated revenue.

How SCDLE Will Run Its Programmes

SCDLE will use more than one teaching model. This gives students options based on their work schedule, location and learning needs.

Continuing Education

The Continuing Education arm will focus on local professionals. It will offer face-to-face teaching through weekend and evening classes.

Distance Learning

The Distance Learning model will run as a borderless and fully digital learning route. The full learning cycle will take place through a Learning Management System, LMS.

Blended Learning

The Blended Learning option will mix online study with physical contact sessions. Students will take about 60% of their study online and 40% through face-to-face intensive sessions.

Faculties and Academic Standards

Professor Gumel said the programmes will come from several faculties, including Agriculture, Computing and Management Sciences.

The curriculum will follow the same strict standards as conventional degree programmes. That means SCDLE students will study under the same academic expectations, even when their class format differs.

What This Means for FUD

The approval of SCDLE gives Federal University Dutse a wider route for teaching students who need flexible study options. Workers, non-traditional students and international learners now stand to benefit from learning models that fit different schedules.

For FUD, the school also opens another path for digital learning and professional training.
