Osun State University has introduced stringent safety protocols for staff and students in response to growing national security concerns and threats against tertiary institutions.

The institution's Registrar, Atinuke A. Oguntunde, issued a circular on Friday, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance due to the prevailing security climate.

Key measures outlined in the memo, with reference number UNIOSUN/REG/ADM/CICR/16/0009, include compulsory safety protocols to prevent security breaches on campus.

• All individuals must visibly display their university identity cards at all times while on campus.
• Security personnel are authorized to enforce mandatory checks.
• Failure to cooperate with routine screening procedures will not be tolerated.

Staff and students are required to immediately report any suspicious persons, objects, or movements to the University Security Unit or the nearest law enforcement agency.

The advisory explicitly prohibits the admission of unknown or unauthorized persons into offices, classrooms, laboratories, and hostels.

Addressing the spread of panic, the university cautioned against rumor-mongering and the circulation of unverified information.

• The community is warned against spreading unverified information or rumors capable of causing panic.

Further provisions include a ban on visiting isolated areas, particularly at night, and a directive to avoid displaying real-time locations or travel plans on social media.

• Students and staff are advised to keep mobile phones fully charged with emergency numbers saved.
• They should move in groups whenever possible.
• The use of untrusted transportation and accepting rides from strangers is strongly discouraged.

The management emphasized that collective responsibility remains critical to maintaining a secure environment, even as it confirmed that routine academic and administrative activities would proceed under the new safety framework.
