Abia State University is geared up to honor a renowned scholar and administrator, Professor Uzoma Nwokochah, as he delivers the 82nd Inaugural Lecture.

Professor Uzoma Nwokochah is a distinguished scholar in the field of Literary Studies and Post-structuralist criticism. His intellectual contributions have significantly enriched conversations surrounding African literature, culture, identity, and human experience.

A proud alumnus of Abia State University, where he earned his B.A. (Hons), M.A., and Ph.D., Professor Nwokochah exemplifies the excellence that ABSU continues to produce. Through his years of teaching, research, mentorship, and academic service, he has greatly contributed to the growth of literary scholarship and the development of future generations of scholars.

On Wednesday, 19th August 2026, the University Auditorium will host academics, students, and distinguished guests as he delivers his inaugural lecture entitled:

“THE LIVING AND THE DEAD: Post-structural Aesthetics and the African Literary Experience.”

The lecture explores the relationship between traditional and contemporary methods of literary criticism, highlighting the significance of post-structural criticism over traditional critical methods.
