Nnamdi Azikiwe University has announced a ban on all sign-out activities by final year students within the university premises and campuses, effective immediately.

This decision has been made due to the repeated incidents of chaos, violence, vandalism, and disruption of academic and administrative activities that have been associated with these events.

According to an internal memo signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, the management is concerned about the presence of unauthorized persons on campus during these activities, which poses a significant threat to the safety and security of students, staff, and university property.

The management considers these activities to be unacceptable and a breach of university regulations, and as such, is taking steps to maintain order, protect lives, and safeguard property.

• Violation of this directive will attract serious sanctions, including rustication and withdrawal, as stipulated in the Students Handbook.
• External persons involved in this practice risk arrest and prosecution in line with extant laws and regulations.

The university is calling on Deans, Heads of Departments, Academic Advisers, the Students' Union Government, and all stakeholders to ensure that these directives are implemented and complied with accordingly.
