The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of admissions into the Law Faculty at Fountain University, Osogbo, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement released on Friday morning, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, explained that this decision came shortly after a similar suspension was placed on Law programmes in eight other universities. The suspension followed further directives from the Council of Legal Education (CLE).
With this announcement, Fountain University becomes the ninth institution where JAMB will not conduct Law admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Earlier, JAMB had revealed that it would not process Law programme admissions in eight Nigerian universities due to the CLE's suspension of their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programmes.
In its statement, JAMB reiterated that the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will remain in effect for two academic sessions, specifically covering both 2025/2026 and 2026/2027, as per the CLE’s decision.
This move underscores JAMB’s commitment to aligning with the Council of Legal Education in maintaining the quality and standards of Law programmes across Nigerian universities. Prospective candidates are urged to consider alternative options for their legal education.
