The management of Yobe State University (YSU) has officially unveiled the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic session. This calendar, signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Mohammed Bukar Ngamdu, provides a comprehensive outline of key dates and activities for both semesters of the session.
The academic activities for the first semester are set to commence with a two-week registration exercise for new and returning students, starting on Monday, 19th January 2026, and ending on 31st January 2026. Lectures will begin shortly after, running for 14 weeks from 2nd February 2026 to 9th May 2026. It's essential for students to note the window for Late Registration, which will take place from 2nd to 7th February, and the Add and Drop Registration period, scheduled from 9th to 21st February.
A significant event in the first semester is the Matriculation Exercise, which is scheduled to take place on 19th February 2026. The First Semester Examination will hold for four weeks, from 11th May 2026 to 6th June 2026, followed by a one-week Inter-Semester break from 8th to 13th June.
The second semester will kick off with the commencement of lectures on 15th June 2026, lasting for 12 weeks until 5th September 2026. The Second Semester Examination is slated to take place from 7th September to 3rd October 2026. A three-week marking period for scripts is scheduled from 5th to 24th October 2026, which will be followed by the process of External Examination Moderation and Consideration of Results at various academic levels.
The university management urges all students, faculty, and staff to take note of these important dates for effective planning throughout the academic year. The resumption date for the 2026/2027 Academic Session is yet to be determined and will be announced in due course.
