The Students' Representative Council (SRC) of Sa'adu Zungur University has just released a crucial safety notice, urging all students to be extra vigilant when using commercial motorcycles and tricycles, commonly referred to as 'Okada'. This advisory comes on the heels of past incidents where students have lost personal belongings, including mobile phones and food items, causing significant distress.
The SRC is emphasizing the importance of the university's existing rider identification system to enhance safety and accountability. Before boarding any Okada, students are strongly advised to take note of the following: a blue jacket identifies a Napep (tricycle) rider, an orange jacket identifies an Achaba (motorcycle) rider, and a green jacket is worn by leaders or supervisors of both rider groups, often marked on the back. It is crucial for students to observe both the color of the rider's jacket and the exact identification number printed on it.
In case a student forgets an item or experiences any issue, they are encouraged to report immediately to the Security Office. The notice states that records are available there to assist in identifying the rider and taking appropriate action. The SRC is stressing that this measure is a key step toward protecting students and is encouraging everyone to take this awareness seriously.
