The Governing Council of Prince Abubakar Audu University has approved the promotion of eight academic staff to the rank of Professor and seventeen others to the rank of Reader. This move aims to strengthen academic excellence, scholarship, and institutional development.
The approvals were made at the 72nd Regular Meeting of the Governing Council, presided over by Chairman Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu, on Friday, 22nd May, 2026. The Council considered the recommendations of the Appointments and Promotion Committee and approved the promotion of eight academic staff members to the rank of Professor. They include Dr. Okpe Ameh Alfa, Dr. Onimisi Meriyamoh Mero, Dr. Okpanachi Martin Abdulafe, Dr. Friday John Sale, Dr. Saad Murtala, Dr. Okpanachi Anthony, Dr. Sani Idris Ahmed, and Dr. Hassan Achimugu.
Similarly, seventeen academic staff members were promoted to the rank of Reader. They are Dr. Attaugwu Roseline Nwabogo, Dr. Amana Gabriel Unekwu, Dr. Ameh E. Mark, Dr. Larayetan Rotimi Abisoye, Dr. Afere Benson Eniola, Dr. Abraham Oyguh Joseph, Dr. Yusuf Shrifudeen, Dr. Obera Joy Aladi, Dr. Muraina Kamilu Olanrewaju, Dr. Emmanuel Friday Titus, Dr. Agbana Olubunmi Funmilayo, Dr. Aliu Monday, Dr. Usman Muhammed, Dr. Okeme Ukwumonu Patrick, Dr. Shaibu Joshua Shaka, Dr. Atoyebi Timothy Abayomi, and Dr. Ugwu James Ike.
The promotions reflect the University's commitment to rewarding hard work, strengthening research productivity, and sustaining academic excellence. The Council reaffirmed its resolve to support policies and initiatives that enhance scholarship, staff development, institutional stability, and global academic visibility.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, congratulated the promoted staff and commended them for their dedication, resilience, and contributions to teaching, research, and community service. He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by sustaining high academic standards, promoting impactful research, and mentoring younger academics. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated Management's commitment to creating an enabling environment that supports academic growth, professional advancement, and institutional transformation.
