The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given its approval for Lens University Ilemona to run 12 additional academic programmes. This decision follows a resource inspection by the NUC team on May 9, 2026.
A letter of approval, dated June 16, 2026, and signed by the NUC's Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, confirmed the development. The letter states that the executive secretary has approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the programmes, which will commence in the 2026/2027 academic session at the university's main campus.
The newly approved programmes include L.L.B. Law, L.L.B Common and Islamic Law, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Doctor of Optometry, Doctor of Physiotherapy (D.PT), B.CHS. Community Health Science, B.Rad. Radiology, B.Eng. Computer Engineering, B.Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, B.sc. Software Engineering, B.sc. Marketing, B.sc. Economics, and B.sc. Finance.
The proprietors of Lens University have expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for expanding university education in Nigeria through the NUC. They pledged that the university will continue to uphold its mandate and contribute to national growth and development.
