The University of Abuja, now operating under the name Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, has opened its intake window for Professional Doctorate, Master’s and Postgraduate Diploma courses offered through the Abuja Leadership Centre.

The offerings are delivered via the Abuja Leadership Centre, which has been designated a TETFund Centre of Excellence in Public Governance and Leadership.

Doctorate Programmes

• Doctorate in Public Governance and Leadership (DPGL)
• Doctorate in Policy and Strategic Studies (DPSS)
• Doctorate in Military Studies (DMS)

Master’s Programmes

• Master’s in Public Governance and Leadership (MPGL)
• Master’s in Policy and Strategic Studies (MPSS)
• Master’s in Military Studies (MMS)

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

• Postgraduate Diploma in Public Governance and Leadership (PGDPGL)
• Postgraduate Diploma in Policy and Strategic Studies (PGDMPSS)

Entry Requirements

Doctorate candidates must satisfy the University of Abuja’s matriculation standards, provide an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and hold a relevant Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Additionally, applicants should have achieved at least a Second‑Class Lower Division (or its equivalent) in their first degree and earned a Distinction or Merit in the postgraduate qualification. Those with pertinent professional experience or notable scholarly work may be considered under specific provisions.

For the Master’s track, aspirants need to meet the University’s matriculation criteria and possess a suitable first degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 where applicable. A screening exercise will be administered to all applicants.

Prospective Postgraduate Diploma students must have secured a minimum of five credits in WAEC, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level examinations, including English Language and Mathematics. Candidates holding relevant Bachelor’s degrees, HNDs, Advanced Diplomas or existing Postgraduate Diplomas may also be eligible, provided they fulfil the stated conditions.

Application Period and Fee

The intake period began on Monday, 24 August 2026, and will remain open until Monday, 26 October 2026.

Applications are to be submitted through the University’s online portal at https://portal.uniabuja.edu.ng.

A non‑refundable application charge of ₦250,000 is required.
