ABSU 21st Optometry Doctors Induction

Abia State University, ABSU 21st Induction ceremony of 2014/2015 set of Optometry Doctors (OD).

It was a moment of academic harvest yesterday as Abia State University conducted the Induction ceremony of her 2014/2015 set of Optometry Doctors (OD)

The Vice-Chancellor while addressing the Ceremony stated that Abia State University is the BIRTH-PLACE of professional Optometry in Africa. He also said that the practice of Optometry is technologically based therefore needs adequate technological advancement.
He further reaffirmed his unalloyed commitment towards improving the study of optometry in university through expanding of the E-max of the postgraduate study of optometry in the university as well as bring up graduates who are professionally competent and academically research oriented to enable them compete with the various aspect of what is happening in the 21st economy of Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Provost Collage of Medicine & Health Sciences, Professor Christian Aluka; The Dean Faculty of health Sciences Professor O.C Ahuma and the Head, Department of Optometry, Abia State University Dr. Chris O. Timothy advised the new optometry Doctors to arm themselves with TRUTH, HONESTY and INTERGRETY as well as to avoid acts that can tarnished their image in the Optometry profession.

Delivering a lecture, the Dean School of Health Technology, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Professor I.N.S Dozie enjoined the Doctors to practice with Compaction and abide by the rules governing the optometry practice.

Administering the oath, the Registrar Optometry and Dispensing Opticians Board of Nigeria Professor (Mrs) E.B Uzodike who is also an alumnus of Absu Optometry Department charged the New Optometry Doctors to abide by the rules of the practice.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of others, the 2014/2015 set Best-graduating Optometry Doctor, Dr. Wogu Kelechukwu thanked Abia State University and their Parents for laying good foundation for them and promised not to disappoint them.

The ceremony also featured the Administering of Licenses by the Board, Awards, as well as an Automatic Employment to the Best-Graduating Optometry Doctor.
