JAMB Responds To Spike In Post-UTME Complaints, Fast-Tracks System Review

May, 13Views: 1032

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has initiated an expedited review of its 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) process, following a significant uptick in unusual complaints after the release of results last Friday.

In a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board confirmed that the review, which typically spans several months post-examination, has been fast-tracked to address these emerging concerns promptly.

JAMB's evaluation process covers three critical stages: registration, examination, and result release. The Board reassured the public that it remains committed to fairness and accuracy in its operations, emphasizing that no candidate will be unfairly disadvantaged due to technical disruptions.

To this end, JAMB reaffirmed its longstanding policy of rescheduling exams for candidates affected by technical challenges, ensuring they receive a fair opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.

Dr. Benjamin noted that the majority of the complaints have originated from a few states, adding that the Board is treating them with the urgency they demand.

“We are currently scrutinizing these complaints in detail to identify and rectify any potential technical issues,” he stated.

To guarantee a thorough and impartial review, JAMB has enlisted experts from diverse fields, including the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (heads of tertiary institutions), the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, measurement specialists, and Vice Chancellors of universities.

Dr. Benjamin reiterated that should any technical faults be identified in the result release process, JAMB would implement corrective measures swiftly, just as it has done in the past for examinations disrupted by technical glitches.

The Board emphasized its unwavering commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the UTME, pledging transparency and accountability in addressing the issues raised.

Should JAMB be more transparent about these technical issues? Or are you satisfied with their swift response? Share your thoughts in the comments!
