The Academic Affairs Directorate of Ahmadu Bello University has released important information regarding the collection of academic gowns for the upcoming 45th convocation ceremony, scheduled to take place on Friday, January 30th, and Saturday, January 31st, 2026.
In a memorandum signed by Acting Director Umar Kasinu, the university has instructed academic units, including the Postgraduate College and the College of Medical Sciences, to send their Administrative Secretaries or Faculty Officers to the Directorate of Academic Affairs. These representatives will be responsible for collecting the gowns on behalf of the graduating students.
To obtain their academic gowns, graduates are required to pay a non-refundable fee. The cost for undergraduates is set at ₦3,000, while postgraduates will need to pay ₦6,000. The university has provided a specific procedure for making these payments, which is outlined in the attached guidelines.
It is essential that all graduates return their gowns in good condition, accompanied by the relevant payment receipts, by Friday, February 20th, 2026, at the latest. The memorandum was circulated to key university officials, including the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adamu Ahmed, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration.
