The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University Branch, has officially announced the suspension of its total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike action, effective March 18, 2026.
The decision follows the successful signing of a Memorandum of Action (MoA) between the Taraba State Government, the University Management, and the Union. After a period of careful deliberation, the Congress resolved to return to classrooms in recognition of the commitments made by the government to address the outstanding issues that sparked the industrial action.
In a press release signed by the Branch Chairperson, Mbave Joshua Garba, the Union described the MoA as a significant step toward restoring normal academic activities and ensuring the welfare of its members. The Union assured students, parents, and the general public that academic activities will resume accordingly.
While academic work is set to restart, ASUU-TSU emphasized that it will continue to closely monitor the implementation of the agreements. The Branch remains committed to ensuring that all provisions of the MoA are faithfully executed in the interest of both staff and the overall development of the institution.
The Union expressed its gratitude to all stakeholders for their patience and support during the strike period, concluding their statement with the traditional unionist charge: Aluta continua, victoria ascerta.
