The Tai Solarin Federal University of Education Students’ Union strongly condemns the recent robbery attacks on students within and around the university community. The safety and well-being of students are paramount and non-negotiable, and it is unacceptable that they are being subjected to fear, trauma, and loss of personal belongings due to criminal activities.

The Students’ Union will not remain passive in the face of these developments. The persistence of these incidents is alarming, and the student body's patience has been stretched to its limit. The union refuses to allow insecurity to become a norm within the community.

A 72-hour ultimatum has been issued to the Nigerian Police Force, local vigilante groups, and relevant security agencies to take decisive action by apprehending those responsible and implementing effective security measures to prevent further occurrences. The union demands an immediate reinforcement of security presence through intensified patrols in student-populated areas and other vulnerable locations.

Security agencies must adopt proactive strategies to dismantle criminal networks and restore confidence within the student community. The authorities must prioritize the protection of lives and property by ensuring the university environment and its surroundings are secured and no longer serve as safe havens for criminal elements.

The Students’ Union urges all students to remain calm but vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the union or the nearest security agency. The leadership is engaging with the university management and relevant security stakeholders to ensure urgent and sustainable measures are implemented. The union remains committed to securing a safe environment for all students and will not tolerate insecurity.
