The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Ambassador Dr. (Mrs.) Nimota Nihinlola Akanbi as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairperson of the Governing Council for the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.

Ambassador Akanbi, a prominent alumna of the University of Ilorin, transitions into this new role with a robust portfolio in public policy and international diplomacy. She previously served as the Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, where she was recognized for strengthening bilateral ties and navigating complex international relations.

Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to leverage her extensive experience in academic administration. Her previous leadership roles include Chairperson of the Governing Council: Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, and Board Chairperson: National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC).

With a career spanning the university system and the secondary education regulatory landscape, Ambassador Akanbi is expected to bring a global perspective to the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
