The University of Uyo invites qualified candidates for admission into its one-year Basic Studies Programme for the 2026/2027 academic year. This programme, in collaboration with the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), prepares students for examinations conducted by JUPEB. Successful candidates who meet the admission requirements for their chosen course are admitted directly into the second year of the University of Uyo through Direct Entry.
However, students who pass the examination but fail to meet the admission requirement for their chosen course will be admitted into other available courses. The University offers a wide range of courses across its faculties, including the Faculty of Agriculture, Arts, Basic Clinical Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Management Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Communication and Media Studies, Education, Vocational Education, Library & Information Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Computing, Law, Pharmacy, and Social Sciences.
For admission into the Basic Studies Programme, candidates are required to have a minimum of five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, and any three other subjects relevant to their course of study, obtained at not more than two sittings at the SSCE/WASCE, GCE O/L, NECO, or NABTEB. Admission into the programme is usually through a University Screening Test, which will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT).
The University also invites qualified candidates for admission into its one-year Pre-Degree programme for the 2026/2027 academic year. This programme prepares candidates for the 2026/2027 JAMB Examination. Successful candidates who meet the JAMB cut-off points will be admitted into the University of Uyo's one-year programmes in various faculties.
For admission into the Pre-Degree programme, candidates must possess credit passes in at least five 'O' Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, at no more than two sittings in the SSCE (WAEC/NECO), GCE, or NABTEB. Candidates seeking admission into programmes in the Faculty of Agriculture should possess at least five 'O' Level Credit passes in NECO, WASC/GCE, including Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, English Language, and any one of Economics, Geography, or Physics.
The application process involves creating an account on the University's admission portal, paying a non-refundable sum of N15,500 for Basic Studies and N10,500 for Pre-Degree, and completing the application form. Candidates are advised to check the University's website for information on the application process and to contact the University for enquiries. The closing date for registration is September 30, 2026, and the date for the online screening exercise is from October 27 to November 7, 2026.
