The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA) has announced the eligibility criteria for prospective undergraduate students seeking admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
To be eligible, candidates must have scored 200 and above in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Additionally, they must have selected FUMMSA as their first-choice institution and be at least 16 years old on or before 30 September 2026.
Candidates are also required to possess a minimum of five credit passes in the relevant O’Level subjects, which include Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and Physics. For programmes such as Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Pharmacy, Dental Surgery, Optometry, and Physiotherapy, candidates must obtain credit passes in all five relevant O’Level subjects at one sitting. However, for other programmes, O’Level results obtained in a maximum of two sittings are acceptable.
Only results from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) will be accepted. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply and register for the FUMMSA Post-UTME (PUTME) Screening Exercise. The registration process will commence shortly, and candidates are advised to regularly visit the University's website for updates and important announcements.
The prescribed fees for the PUTME Screening Application and Portal Access are ₦2,000 and ₦4,000, respectively, payable through Remita on the FUMMSA admission portal. The maximum obtainable point in the University's Post-UTME Screening Exercise is 100 points, comprising 50% of the UTME score and 50% of the O’Level results’ score. Candidates' aggregate points will be determined by summing up the 50% UTME and 50% O’Level results’ scores.
Admission cut-off points for all programmes will be based on candidates' aggregate scores. It is essential to note that all information, transactions, and payments will be on the University portal, and candidates should not make payments to any private account. The University has not appointed any agents, and anyone purporting to represent the University is considered fraudulent. Candidates are advised to be vigilant and cautious during the admission process.
