Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into various postgraduate programmes.

The available postgraduate programmes include Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science, Master of Tech. Education, Master of Engineering, M.Sc. Embedded Artificial Intelligence, Master of Technology, Master of Business Administration, Master of Health Management, Master of Accounting and Finance, Master of Information Technology Management, Master of Development Studies, Master of Facility Management, and other courses at the Postgraduate Diploma level.

1. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• Postgraduate Diploma requirements include meeting the matriculation requirements, such as credit passes in English Language and Mathematics at the O' level, from examinations like WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB.
• Graduates of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University or other recognised universities with at least a Third-Class Honours Degree are eligible.
• HND holders with a minimum of Lower credit from recognised institutions can also apply.
• Holders of any other qualifications, along with relevant field experience deemed acceptable by the university, may be considered.
• Master Degrees requirements include meeting the matriculation requirements, including credit in English Language and Mathematics at the O' level.
• Graduates of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University with at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) are eligible.
• Candidates with approved university honour degrees, or those with a CGPA of 2.40 - 2.99 inclusive plus three years post-graduation, can apply.
• Candidates with third-class honours degrees plus five years post-graduation are also eligible.
• Appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University or other recognized institutions with at least a pass at credit level can apply.
• Candidates whose degrees are unclassified with an average of C or above may be considered.
• Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma with at least a credit pass from recognized institutions and at least a pass at credit level of Postgraduate Diploma from recognized institutions in relevant areas are eligible.
• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree requirements include meeting the matriculation requirements, such as a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics at the O' level.
• Graduates of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University who hold Master's Degrees appropriate for the proposed area of study are eligible.
• Graduates of other recognized universities who hold Master's Degrees with a CGPA of at least 3.50 on a scale of 5.00 can apply.
• Candidates for the PhD programme may be required to pass a qualifying examination and/or undergo a probationary period not exceeding 12 calendar months.

3. METHOD OF APPLICATION

Application forms can be completed online and obtained at a rate of N11,000 through the website www.pgatbu.com.ng or from the direct admission portal link: pgatbu.admissions.cloud, from 13 July 2026 to 13 October 2026 for PGD, Masters, and PhD. Applicants must submit their application forms online, along with scanned copies of their credentials. Only valid email addresses and phone numbers should be used, as further correspondence will be through these channels. Applicants must ensure the online form is carefully and correctly completed. It is mandatory for applicants to arrange with their previous institution(s) to forward hard copies of their academic transcripts to their prospective Head of Department for the proposed programme. No candidate will be considered for admission without a valid transcript. PhD applicants must upload a research proposal or synopsis. Applicants without NYSC discharge or exemption certificates need not apply.
