The University of Lagos has announced that the application and allocation process for hostel accommodation for the 2026/2027 academic session will commence on Monday, August 17, 2026.

To ensure a smooth and transparent exercise, all undergraduate students are required to carefully read and adhere to the timeline, key dates, comprehensive guidelines, and eligibility criteria detailed below:

Timeline & Key Dates

• Application Portal Opens: Monday, August 17, 2026.
• Application Portal Closes: Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
• Balloting Date: The specific date for the online balloting exercise will be officially communicated by the Dean of Student Affairs after the application window closes.

Guidelines and General Eligibility Criteria

• Allocation of university bed spaces will be conducted strictly via an online balloting process.
• Only students who have fully paid their school fees and completed their course registration for the current 2025/2026 academic session are eligible to apply.
• Applicants must be within the regular, prescribed duration of their respective academic programs.
• Balloting is not automatic. Only students who apply online within the application window will be deemed eligible to participate in the ballot.
• All categories of students must participate in this application process to be considered for a bed space, including biological children of staff, sports scholars, and students living with disabilities.

Ineligible Categories

• The following categories of students are strictly ineligible to apply for or be allocated university hostel accommodation:
• a. Final year students are not qualified to apply.
• b. Any student currently facing a disciplinary panel or found guilty of offenses such as examination malpractice, sexual harassment, or any other misconduct.
• c. Rusticated Students: Any student currently serving a term of rustication.
• d. Expectant (pregnant) mothers and nursing mothers
• e. Private hostel residents who secure or intend to secure bed spaces in the private/partnership hostels on campus, namely: El-Kanemi, Gbajabiamila and UNILAG Women Society hostels.
