Federal University Of Technology And Environmental Sciences…

Oct, 16Views: 39

According to the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin‑Ekiti (FUTES‑IYIN), the school has taken disciplinary action against 31 students for involvement in examination misconduct during its inaugural academic session.

The university made the announcement public on 13 October 2026, noting that the suspension resulted from a decision of the University Senate and was carried out in line with the institution’s established disciplinary framework.

Vice‑Chancellor Professor Gbenga Aribisala relayed the news on Monday during a live interaction with returning students, marking the start of the university’s second academic session.

University Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Examination Malpractice

In the same forum, the Vice‑Chancellor reiterated the university’s strict no‑tolerance stance on any form of malpractice that could jeopardise academic integrity.

He highlighted that examinations remain a cornerstone of the university’s assessment process and called on learners to approach them with seriousness, discipline and honesty.

Professor Aribisala also warned students against succumbing to peer pressure or any external influence that might encourage cheating, urging them to rely on thorough preparation and legitimate academic support to achieve their goals.

He added that personal accountability is essential, emphasizing that the institution is dedicated to fostering an environment conducive to learning and scholarly excellence.

The Vice‑Chancellor appealed to the entire university community to safeguard the school’s reputation by upholding high standards of conduct.

University Addresses Students’ Accommodation Challenges

Shifting focus beyond academic discipline, Professor Aribisala provided an update on the administration’s plans to tackle housing difficulties faced by the student body.

He announced that hostel accommodations would be assigned to newly admitted students at the time of their induction.

He further disclosed that the management has been in dialogue with key stakeholders in the surrounding community to mitigate the rising costs of rental housing and transport fares.

In addition, the Vice‑Chancellor praised Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele for his active role in the ongoing construction of extra hostel blocks, noting that the completion of these facilities will relieve current accommodation pressures.

Professor Aribisala reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to maintaining regular communication with students, ensuring they stay informed about campus developments and have avenues to raise concerns affecting their welfare and academic experience.

The university stressed once more that genuine academic achievement must stem from diligent effort, proper preparation and honest work.
