The 2024 Direct Entry (DE) registration period will now run for an additional two weeks, as JAMB has made the decision to accommodate all interested candidates. The previously set conclusion date of Thursday, March 28th, 2024, is being pushed back, and the new deadline is scheduled for April 11th, due to this extension.
The extension of the registration period was a response to difficulties that candidates experienced during security screening, specifically in regard to verifying their A-level certificates. Is-haq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, recognized these issues and expressed regret for any disruptions caused. Going forward, efforts will be made to simplify the registration system and enhance its accessibility.
Registration through Direct Entry is specifically for individuals who possess A-level qualifications and are accepted into universities in their second year. As of 2023, JAMB implemented a new verification process to address concerns regarding fake results presented by some candidates. Unfortunately, this thorough screening has resulted in registration delays.
Oloyede listed 13 admissible qualifications for Direct Entry Registration, such as diplomas from universities, National/Higher Diploma (OND/HND), certificates from Colleges of Education (NCE), university degrees and verified results obtained through various A-level exam boards. Nevertheless, regardless of the acceptable qualifications provided by JAMB; it is firm in detering candidates with unscrupulous-acquired certifications to not be beneficiaries. Further highlighting that verifying certificates mustn't go overlooked, especially those which haven’t yet been sanctioned by respective institutions themselves.
