A magistrate court in Ota, Ogun state has arraigned two women and a minor for allegedly assaulting the principal of A.U.D School, Mrs. Fatima Orenuga
Recent news reports state that two women and a minor have been arraigned in a magistrate court in Ota, Ogun state for allegedly assaulting Mrs. Fatima Orenuga, the principal of A.U.D School. The incident allegedly occurred on February 21, after Mrs. Orenuga prevented the defendants from passing through the school’s premises, resulting in the defendants assaulting and tearing her clothes. The Magistrate presiding over the case, Mrs. A.O. Adeyemi, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to March 28.
During the arraignment, the defendants were informed of the charges against them and given the opportunity to enter a plea. It is not clear whether they pleaded guilty or not guilty. However, they were granted bail with the condition of two sureties each. The case has been adjourned to March 28 for further proceedings.
Assault is a serious criminal offense that involves the intentional infliction of physical harm or injury on another person. If found guilty, the defendants could face a prison sentence or a fine, or both, depending on the severity of the offense and the laws in Ogun state.
