The Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University has announced vacancies for the positions of Registrar, Bursar, and University Librarian. These positions will be filled in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Universities Act and the Akwa Ibom State University Law. Interested candidates who meet the requisite qualifications and experience are invited to apply.
1. Registrar: The Registrar shall be the Chief Administrative Officer of the University, responsible for the day-to-day administration of the University, except in financial matters where the Bursar is responsible. The candidate must be a team player with good leadership qualities, have high integrity, innovativeness, and moral standards, and be ICT compliant.
To be eligible, candidates must possess a good honours degree not below Second Class from a recognized University, with at least 18 years of cognate experience, preferably in a university or other institutions of higher learning. The tenure of the Registrar is a single five-year term, and the successful candidate will be placed on consolidated salary for Registrars with all the allowances normally attached to the position of Principal Officers in Nigerian Universities.
2. Bursar: The Bursar shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University. The candidate must exhibit competence, responsiveness, integrity, and transparency on matters of financial and human resource management, and be ICT compliant.
To be eligible, candidates must possess a good honours degree not below Second Class in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business Management from a recognized University, and be a member of a professional Accounting body such as ICAN or ANAN. The tenure of the Bursar is a single term of five years, and the successful applicant will be placed on consolidated salary for Bursars with all the allowances attached to the position of Principal Officers in Universities in Nigeria.
3. University Librarian: The University Librarian shall be a Principal Officer of the University, responsible for the administration of the University Library and the coordination of all library services in the University. The ideal candidate must be able to steer the University Library towards growth and development, with a high degree of integrity and moral discipline, and be endowed with creativity and innovation.
To be eligible, candidates must possess a good honours degree not below Second Class in Library Science from a recognized University, plus a higher degree (preferably a Ph.D) with at least 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in a University or other institutions of higher learning. The tenure of the University Librarian is a single five-year term, and the successful candidate will be placed on CONUASS 7 with relevant fringe benefits.
Method of Application: Each applicant should submit 25 copies each of their application and curriculum vitae, indicating full name, post sought, date and place of birth, nationality, permanent home and current contact addresses, marital status, number and ages of children, academic/professional qualifications, previous working experience, details of research work and publications, extra-curricular activities, and names and addresses of 3 Referees.
