University of Jos Management Announces Emergency Security Meeting

The University of Jos has called a critical meeting for all students to address the rising security concerns within the university community. This directive was outlined in a memo dated July 29, 2026, signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya. The move comes after recent security measures were taken by the institution due to concerns over safety on and around campus.

The meeting aims to discuss general security issues affecting the university, recent unhealthy activities involving students, and measures to safeguard the well-being of members of the university community.

To ensure full participation, the university has directed all Deans and Heads of Departments to declare a lecture-free period from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on the day of the meeting. This decision allows students to attend and actively participate in the discussions.
