Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu‑Alike (AE‑FUNAI) in Ebonyi State announced that the start of the 2026/2027 academic year has been moved from Monday, 26 October, to Monday, 9 November 2026.
The change was communicated through an internal memorandum signed by University Registrar T. Ifeanyi Igwe on 22 October 2026. The memo notes that the Vice‑Chancellor approved the shift after encountering unexpected circumstances and logistical issues on campus.
University officials have instructed both new enrolments and returning scholars to report to the campus on Saturday, 7 November, and Sunday, 8 November 2026. This two‑day window is intended to allow students to settle into their assigned halls of residence before classes commence.
According to the same memorandum, academic staff are required to start delivering lectures promptly on Monday, 9 November 2026, the first day of the revised term.
The notice also indicates that an inception quiz for students who are returning will be organized roughly two weeks after the new start date.
All members of the university community have been urged to note the updated timetable and act in accordance with the revised schedule.
The Registrar concluded the memo by apologising for any inconvenience the adjustment may cause to students and staff.
