Southern Delta University (SDU) located in Ozoro, Delta State, has announced that applications for hostel accommodation for the 2026/2027 academic session are now being accepted.

The notice appeared in the institution’s Official Bulletin, Volume 275, issued on Thursday, 22 October 2026, with the Vice‑Chancellor, Professor Sunny Awhefeada, authorising the start of the application procedure.

The university states that candidates must submit their hostel requests via the student portal and obtain approval prior to remitting any fees.

Steps to Apply for Hostel Accommodation

Students are to follow the steps below to apply for hostel accommodation:

Step 1: Log in to the Student Portal

Access the university’s student portal via the following URL: https://student.sduportal.ng/

Step 2: Navigate to Hostel Application

Within the dashboard, select the “Apply for Hostel” option.

Step 3: Select the Academic Session

Choose “Select Academic Session” and pick the 2026/2027 session.

Step 4: Select Your Preferred Hostel

Press “Select Hostel” and indicate the hostel you wish to occupy.

Step 5: Select a Room

After choosing a hostel, click “Select Room” to see the list of rooms and the count of empty beds per room.

The university notes that a room shown as 0/3 beds free indicates no vacancies; therefore, applicants should opt for rooms that show available beds.

Step 6: Select a Bed Space

Once a room is chosen, pick one of the listed vacant bed spaces.

Step 7: Submit Your Application

Confirm your choices and press “Submit Hostel Application” to finalize the request.

Step 8: Wait for Approval

The university will assess each submission. Applicants whose requests are approved will be notified on their dashboard and may then proceed to pay for the hostel.

Important Notice to Students

The institution urges students to adhere strictly to the outlined steps and to confirm approval before submitting any payment for accommodation.

Approved applicants must settle the payment within 48 hours of approval, otherwise the allocated bed may be released.

Applicants are encouraged to log into the student portal to finish their submissions.
