The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced the commencement of admission into its Sandwich Degree Programme under the Faculty of Education. The sale of forms is now open to interested and qualified candidates for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

The programme offers flexible learning opportunities through both Post-NCE and Post-SSC entry routes, giving room for applicants with diverse academic backgrounds to join the School of Sandwich Programmes.

Available Courses

Prospective students can apply to any of the following education-focused disciplines:

• Educational Foundations and Arts

• Educational Management, Social Studies and Business Education

• Educational Curriculum, Science Education and Educational Technology

• Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling

• Sport and Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Environmental and Safety Education

• Adult and Non-Formal Education

• Library Science and Information Technology

• Early Childhood and Primary Education

UNIPORT also confirmed that candidates admitted through the Post-SSC route will remain eligible for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Admission Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• O’Level Requirements: Five credits in SSCE, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE, including English Language, Mathematics and three relevant subjects tied to the intended teaching area.

• University Certificate Holders: Must possess a credit pass in the UNIPORT Certificate Programme or an equivalent certificate from any recognised university.

• HND/First Degree Holders: Eligible for a two-year programme but must complete all compulsory education courses, GES courses and teaching practice in Years 1 and 2.

• OND Holders: Will undertake a three-year programme and must also complete compulsory education and GES courses, including teaching practice in Years 1 and 2.

• NCE Merit Pass: Admissible into the Post-NCE programme.
