Bayero University Kano has inducted 149 newly qualified medical professionals, comprising 131 medical doctors and 18 dentists, at its 10th Bachelor of Dental Surgery and 24th Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery induction ceremony. The event was held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Convocation Arena, New Campus.
Administering the oath, Fatima Kyari, Registrar and Chief Executive of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, congratulated the inductees on successfully completing their academic and clinical journey. She urged them to uphold the ethics and standards of the medical and dental professions, emphasizing the importance of protecting the integrity of their licenses at all times.
Professor Amina Mustapha, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development), spoke on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, describing the occasion as a significant milestone for the graduates and their families. She encouraged the new doctors to represent the university with distinction and commended the Faculties of Clinical Sciences and Dentistry for producing graduates worthy in character and learning.
The induction ceremony also included an awards category, where Dr. Ismail Abubakar Muhammad emerged as the overall best graduating student in MBBS, having earlier won top prizes in Biochemistry, Medicine, and Surgery. In Dentistry, Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Hafizu was named overall best, following her outstanding performance in Restorative Dentistry, Preventive Dentistry, Oral Diagnosis Sciences, and Child Dental Health.
