The Students' Union Government (SUG) of FUTO has addressed the student community regarding the reported death of a FUTO student, allegedly involving members of the Man O' War unit. This incident has sparked widespread concern and demands for justice.
The SUG has repeatedly communicated with University Management and relevant authorities through the Dean of Student Affairs regarding cases of brutality and student safety. Regrettably, no decisive action was taken until this tragedy occurred.
In light of the gravity of this matter and to demand transparency and accountability, the SUG has suspended all lectures, practicals, tests, and academic activities for all levels for a period of one week, commencing Monday, 1st June 2026 to Friday, 5th June 2026. This suspension will remain until Management provides a detailed official statement on the incident, concrete steps being taken for investigation and justice, and verifiable measures to prevent recurrence.
The SUG remains committed to protecting the welfare, safety, and dignity of all FUTO students. The SUG urges everyone to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while they pursue justice. Further updates will be communicated through official SUG channels.
