The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) announces that applications for its 2026 Indigent Scholarship Award are now being accepted.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• The candidate must be classified as indigent.
• The candidate must be currently enrolled at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
• The candidate must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00 as recorded in the Harmattan semester of the 2024/2025 academic session.

MODE OF APPLICATION

1. Each applicant is required to submit a concise application letter not exceeding two pages. The letter should clearly state the applicant’s full name, faculty, department, programme of study, year of study, state of origin, and a brief justification for why the applicant believes they merit the award.

2. The application letter must be accompanied by the following supporting documents:

• (i) A clear photocopy of the applicant’s current university identity card.
• (ii) An endorsement letter from the applicant’s current Head of Department, confirming the applicant’s CGPA and academic standing.
• (iii) One recent passport‑size photograph of the applicant.

All applications, together with the required documents, must be delivered to the ASUU‑FUTO Secretariat no later than Friday, 25 September 2026, by 3:00 pm.

Interviews for shortlisted candidates are scheduled for Tuesday, 29 September 2026, commencing at 9:00 am, and will also be held at the ASUU‑FUTO Secretariat.

Please note that any application submitted after the deadline or any candidate arriving late for the interview will not be considered.

NOTE: Students who are already receiving other scholarships are ineligible for this award.
