Rivers State University (RSU) Management has dismissed a fake memo circulating on social media.

The memo claimed that the institution had cancelled or postponed its ongoing second semester examinations.

In a press release dated July 27, 2026, and signed by the Acting Registrar, Dr. Idanyingi I. Daminabo, the university described the circulating document as fake, misleading, and unauthorized.

According to the statement, the false memo, dated July 24, 2026, falsely claimed that the university had cancelled and postponed its examinations and was purportedly signed by the Acting Registrar.

However, RSU clarified that the document did not originate from the Office of the Registrar or any authorized organ of the institution.

The university assured students, staff, parents, and the general public that the timetable for the ongoing second semester examinations, as approved by the Senate of the university, remains valid and unchanged.

Management emphasized that all examinations will continue as scheduled.

RSU also warned those responsible for creating and circulating the false information to stop such unlawful acts or face legal consequences.

The institution further advised members of the university community and the public to ignore the fake memo and rely only on official information released through the Office of the Registrar, the university's official notice boards, website, and verified social media platforms.
