Northwest University Kano management has disclaimed a viral video and social media reports claiming the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, had an academic deficiency.
The university issued a disclaimer on 10th August 2026, explaining that the video actually showed the Emir attending a public lecture at the institution, organised by the International Humanitarian Law Society. However, some individuals attached misleading write-ups to the video and circulated them on social media.
According to the university, claims that the Emir had a carry-over and approached the institution to clear an alleged academic deficiency are false, baseless, and misleading. The management stated that the university completely distances itself from the video, the accompanying write-ups, and the claims contained in them.
The university warned that individuals involved in creating or circulating false and defamatory content could be reported to relevant authorities and prosecuted in accordance with applicable laws.
The university advised the public to rely only on its official communications for accurate and verified information concerning the institution and its activities.
