The University on the Niger, located in Umunya, Anambra State, has officially received a Full Statutory Licence from Nigeria’s Federal Government via the National Universities Commission (NUC), formally recognizing it as a fully licensed private university in the country.

This milestone represents a pivotal point in the institution’s history, signalling the successful conclusion of its probationary phase that began after the university obtained its initial licence and launched academic programmes in 2023.

The award of the Full Statutory Licence comes after the university’s successful engagement in the intensive institutional assessment and accreditation carried out by the NUC in April 2026.
