The Federal University Kashere (FUKASHERE), Gombe State, has received the nod of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to launch three new full-time academic programmes.
The approval follows a resource assessment visit by NUC panels tasked with evaluating staffing capacity, learning facilities and overall readiness. FUKASHERE met all the essential requirements in the first stage of the review, paving the way for the programmes to commence in the 2025/2026 academic session.
Approved Programmes
According to the NUC’s letter dated 8 December 2025, the following courses have been cleared to begin:
• B.D.S. Dental Surgery
• B.N.Sc. Nursing Science
• B.O.T. Occupational Therapy
The Commission emphasized that the approval covers full-time mode only. Any intention to run part-time variants will require fresh clearance. It also directed the university to maintain the exact programme titles as approved, with any proposed changes subject to written consent from the NUC.
Why This Matters
This approval marks a significant boost for FUKASHERE’s expanding health sciences portfolio and widens study opportunities for students across the North-East. The NUC further encouraged the university to continue strengthening its academic staff, facilities and teaching resources to ensure sustainable programme growth.
